An odd statement to say isn't it?
Well, I tweet'ed this a while ago:
Now when I look back, Kawasaki has become one of the most amazing players on the Blue Jays, going for a 9 game winning streak. I will tell you the story of how I got my Kawasaki Jersey, but I'll save it for my next blog when I get the photos.
See I loved Kawasaki just because, well he's Asian and I love an underdog story. He was picked up in the minors to replace an injured player and started to take everyone's hearts. Doesn't this sound familiar?

If you said Scalabrine, you don't know anything about sports.
Of course, one of my favourite basketball players, Jeremy Lin.
If you want to know my fav basketball player list, they are...
1. Yao Ming
2. Shane Battier
3. Jeremy Lin
4. Louis Williams
5. Landry Fields
[I have weird tastes]
Anywho so let's get back to the comparison, then I thought, Scalabrine and Kawasaki are so alike!.
Why is this? Well...
- Scalabrine on the Celtics was like Kawasaki on the Jays,
Best Known White guy [White mamba] Vs. Best Known Asian guy - When we do cheers:
- Sca-La-Bri-NE! *clap*clap* *clap clap clap*
- Ka-Wa-Sa-KI! *clap*clap* *clap clap clap* - Scalabrine was Celtic's Lucky charm in the playoffs
Jay's 9 game winning streak has... Kawasaki! - Both players have similar stats in different sports
Scalabrine: Boston's '08 championship season: 0.35 stl/TO
Kawasaki: Jays '13 On base average: 0.337%
[These stats show the accuracy of a player on the field]
I can do better but I need to have time to look through the stats....
- When Scalabrine scores a basket, the crowd goes wild
When Kawasaki gets a base hit, the crowd goes wild - When Scalabrine scores a 3, It's GAME OVER for the opponents
When Kawasaki scores a HR, It's GAME OVER for the opponents - Both are players known as sub-average
- Both are old
- Both love their fans and have a larger fan base than a starter player [in NBA]
- Both have double digits jersey [44 and 66]
- Scalabrine is a god... Kawasaki may get there.
There's a lot more, but Kawasaki has brought Toronto a reason to cheer for them, which Scalabrine has over the years. We need players like that in a franchise in order to love our team like a work office, or a class room, or even in a movie.
So I wish you luck Kawasaki
