My first year was identical to Monster University

Wow... Just wow...
I didn't expect a movie to touch me so much, but a lot of my memories from first year flushed right in after watching the movie.

Anyways, before I talk about how it was like my uni life, there was a short called "The Blue Umbrella" which I loved to death.

The Blue Umbrella, at first seemed like a musical about small street items like water drains, signs, traffic lights, man holes.... Until we see a blue umbrella meeting a red one in the sea of black umbrellas. Now The story emphasizes on the love story of umbrellas and how with a face on them, makes them into two loveable characters. I won't spoil it, but a lot of the scenes are reasons why Umbrellas blow away, fly away, or even break... It makes you think a lot of why things happen around our world, maybe the next time you fall over a sewer pipe, it was trying to slow you down to meet the person of your dream.

My next big video will be something similar to this idea, but we'll see if I can pull it off [OMG ITS JULY D: ]

Let's get back to MU.

So I won't try to spoil the movie [I will spoil a lot... so BECAREFUL], but I personally felt exactly like Mike Wazowski... Ye... I was in his shoes when I went to university. I was a loud mouth, thinking I could become friends with everyone, and well... be liked by everyone. Ha. I was so wrong, and Mike learned it the hard way too... My residence floor felt like the frat house Mike and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan lived in... In my residence, I really didn't fit. My room mates didn't like me at all... so I switched out to a new room, which honestly wasn't better at first, but eh, my room mate was honestly a really nice guy. Kinda lazy, but he was a good friend everyday which was more than I could ask for.
Everytime I wanted to do something, I hung out with my friend in the other dorms... so I remember 4 really good friends... well 6 on my floor back in first year. All of which I can't really talk much, because we haven't talked in a while, but they were great friends back then. But I wasn't a partier... I didn't... well still don't drink. So I kinda stayed in my room and studied :P So I know how Mike felt.

When Mike walked into the uni, one of the characters was energetic and said, "WELCOME LET ME HELP YOU IN! LEAVE YOUR STUFF WE'LL MOVE YOU IN!"
God I felt so embarrassed when those frosh ppl moved my stuff in. But I'm a Sprosh leader, so... You freshmen better let me carry your stuff to your rooms :P

Then the clubs exhibit... OH god They had every club my uni had... Improv, Astronomy... it was hilarious... I remember I wanted to join Kayaking, and I think Japanese in first year. The scenes with the bird monster with the Greek frat I think was hilarious... That's how our university's cheer team sounds like... like die hard exact. It was a good laugh for me... and if you don't know, I will have to do that for Raven's Log this year again... with a surprise for you first years!

OH YE. This scene I remember in uni.... see my first room mate decided to join a frat, so I was like wtf ... but I wasn't material for a frat since ... well I don't party so its obvious. Secondly I'm not jock like ... third I wasn't rich... My room mate kinda disappeared with the frat... who oddly was in my major too and kinda like Sullivan... really like him.... So I kinda separated from my room mate from being friends [this was before I moved out]

Now we went from room mates... to Clubs, to now... welll at Frosh week... I remember I was the center of attention for my team... AFTER EVERYONE DITCHED MY TEAM. It sucked how I was the only one motivated... but there were like... 50% of the leaders were really good friends of mine from it. I still say hi to one of them, whose a really nice gal. But ye, frosh week was hectic, and I went from Froshie to a Sprosh leader [business students frosh at my uni...]

Now where does this lead to... The prof telling everyone ... If you don't do well, you're out of the program. A usual threat from every prof...
Bigger joke I heard was, "Getting kicked out of B-Comm will get you into Econ..."

Snuck into buildings after night to hang out.... [At my uni... I fell in a canal...]

Running away from trouble we caused...

All nighters studying...

+ Every character in the movie WILL BE someone you meet at the university you go to.

... and ye I looked retarded as hell when I talked in my first year classes...
Probably cause people thought I was a nerd...

and yee.... No more spoiling but, the rest of the movie stayed true to the Monster Inc Story... but I couldn't relate to the rest since I never did Frat games...

But it does remind me a lot about my first year... and it makes me think, did I really have a great first year? I think so, I did a lot, I made friends who I am with now... Made videos with them, grew up from my highschool self and meeting special people who would remain important people in my life today... and I'm in 4th year cruising to graduation...

My only advice to first years is... Be happy, and be opened. That's how you make you uni life worth it.

And to those who aren't first years... How was your first year in University/ College?
Comment below if you would like to share those experiences.

Man Disney really hits the heart...
